State of the Game: Part I

Time for a quick state of the game post.

I began with this project on January 1, 2017. The planned ship date is around March'18, so I still have around 11 months left to assemble this creature.

I'm very focused on the project doing a lot of programming work. The past months were very productive. The TinyEngine framework is finished and the TinyAdventure framework is moving forward at an accelerated rate with great results.

The script engine made amazing progress. I plan to start the high-level coding on mid April. It is important to note that I'm not reinventing the wheel. The scripting language (TinyScript) is simple and limited, but useful. It is not my intention to develop a full scripting language like LUA.

I'm happy with the overall style of the characters and their animations. However, I'm not sure if I'll be able to do the backgrounds, not just because of timing issues but I'm not an artist and I've my limitations. Same for the music. So, I'll probably get somebody's help for these areas.

In parallel, I'm doing a lot of design work and brainstorming. I really like the story/plot and hopefully it will be a good complement for the permadeath scenario I have in mind.
